Our Modules

Teaching English as a Foreign Language (B.A. - winter & summer term) - Link to module (pdf)

This seminar gives an overview of various aspects relevant to second/foreign language teaching and learning, including historical and political perspectives, psychological and neurological considerations, individual differences between learners, interaction in the classroom, and approaches to foreign language teaching. To receive credits (6 CP), you have to pass a written exam at the end of the term.

Fachdidaktik Englisch I (A): Literatur- und Kulturdidaktik (M.Ed. - summer term) - Link to module (pdf)

This course provides theoretical background to the study of cultures and intercultural interaction by exploring the concept of culture and the ‘intercultural’/’transcultural’. The planning of teaching sequences provides the framework for linking theoretical insights regarding Intercultural Literacy to teaching English as a foreign language. To receive credits (8 CP), you have to pass an oral exam at the end of the term.

Fachdidaktik Englisch I (B): Sprach- und Mediendidaktik (M.Ed. - summer term) - Link to module (pdf)

In this seminar, we discuss how Language Awareness probes into different domains of language and is concerned with cognition, reflection, attitude and emotion regarding language. Among others, we will discuss the introduction of of grammar and lexis as well as the planning of teaching sequences. To receive credits (8 CP), you have to pass an oral exam at the end of the term.

Fachdidaktik Englisch II: Begleitung des Praxissemesters (M.Ed. - winter term) - Link to module (pdf)

In this seminar, we will focus on the study projects by working on your research questions, your study plan, further research aspects and the realization of empirical data acquisition and analysis. Additional topics can be (but are not restricted to) diagnostics, testing and assessment , curricula, standards, and the Common European Framework. To receive credits (8 CP), you have to pass a term paper at the end of the term. 

Fachdidaktik Englisch III: Current Issues in the Teaching of English as a Foreign Language (M.Ed. - summer term) - Link to module (pdf)

This seminar evaluates, reflects upon and discusses the "Praxissemester" during the "Begleitseminar", presents empirical results and discusses conclusions for designing the EFL classroom in a modern and effective way. Concepts and approaches will be discussed and considered in light of the Praxissemester's practical experiences in the classroom. To receive credits (4 CP), you have to give a presentation during the seminar.
