About the Program
The MA English Literatures and Cultures deals with literatures and cultures of Great Britain and the postcolonial world. It comprises 11 modules and a Master's thesis, totalling 120 CP. Requirements and Prerequisites
Undergraduate degrees and ECTS
- A Bachelor of Arts or equivalent degree acquired in Germany or abroad
- Your degree must include at least 36 credit points (Bonn) or an equivalent number in English Studies. The overall subject focus of your BA should be in the humanities or social sciences.
- Applicants are required to have completed modules focusing on literary history, theory, and cultural studies
Language Proficiency
- Applicants are required to have completed English language practice modules (18 ECTS minimum)
- International students need a certificate of intermediate German language proficiency (DSH-1, TestDaF TDN 3, CEFR B2)
- Proficiency in a third language is highly desirable
Applications and Admissions
- The application period for winter semesters is usually in mid-May, the application for summer semesters in mid-December. Please see here for exact dates.
- You can apply before completing your first (undergraduate) degree but have to submit your degree certificate when you enrol in the programme.
