Major English Studies
Studying English as your Major (dt.: "Kernfach") is the most comprehensive way of studying English Studies, with a total of 17 modules plus a BA thesis, equalling 120 CP. Module Guide
This guide contains general overviews of the modules offered in the Major. For contents of specific courses, please see Basis. If you started your studies before the winter term 23/24 and have already passed 7 advanced modules or the colloquium, refer to version A. If you have not passed the colloquium or less that 7 advanced modules or if have started your studies in or after the winter term 23/24, please refer to version B.
Exam Regulations
The exam regulations are the 'law books' of the faculty. It is an important document you should consult when you're in doubt regarding what is required in any given degreee programme, exam, module etc.

Your course of studies is unique to you. As long as it is congruent with exam regulations, you can choose whatever courses you wish. If you started your studies before the winter term 23/24 and have already passed 7 advanced modules or the colloquium, refer to version A. If you have not passed the colloquium or less that 7 advanced modules or if have started your studies in or after the winter term 23/24, please refer to version B.
Professional Development
The Professional Development module is a mandatory internship that you can do at any point during your studies. It is aimed to provide you an insight into and idea of the working world.
Colloquium
The colloquium is a mandatory precursor to finishing your BA thesis. During the colloquium, you will be able to finalise your topic if you have not already done so and receive feedback by your peers and lecturer.

Extracurricular activities
Aside from seminars and lectures, the University of Bonn in general and the IAAK in specific offer a wide varity of clubs, activities, and other events that are always worth checking out! From sports and theatre to student-led clubs, there is probably something here for everyone!

The Überfachliche Praxisbereich aims to broaden your horizons by letting you participate in select courses outside your own department. The ÜBP comprises of workshops, lecture series, language courses, and more!
